Stephen Jerzak Interview

Check out my exclusive interview with singer Stephen Jerzak!

First, can you please introduce, and tell a little bit about yourself?
"My name is Stephen Jerzak. I grew up in a little place called La Crosse, WI. 17 out of the 18 years of my life have been spent in my Wisconsin home. I started touring the summer after my 17th birthday."
When did you decide to really pursue music as a career, and how did you go about doing so?
"I started writing and playing music when I was 12 years old. I had no idea that it would blossom into such a big part of my life. I started a Myspace page for myself when I was 16, luckily in its prime, making it much easier than it would be now to start from nothing and build a fan base. I recorded a bunch of demos and put them up. As every week went by, the amount of plays just kept growing , and I ended up being the #1 unsigned artist on the Myspace charts before I signed with Universal Republic Records."
Who are some cool artist and people that you have met along the way?
"I’ve met too many people to say. I’ve been touring for a little over a year
now, and the bands I got to share the stage with have all been great. I
was in CA for the beginning of the year working on my album and I met/
worked with so many producers I’ve looked up to. Matt Squire was really
cool to work with since I’ve been enjoying his work since I started playing.
Also, Rock Mafia was another really cool team of people to be around."
I recently saw that you've been doing shows with Mike Posner and will be doing some shows with AllStar Weekend. What's it like touring and performing for so many people?
"I’m on the road with Mike Posner right now supporting the Up In The Air
tour. It’s such a change from the previous touring I’ve done! It’s already
a dream come true to be playing the House of Blues, but to be with Posner
really tops it off. It’s a really motivating vibe. But don’t get me wrong,
performing is the best part of it all, no matter how big or small the stage is.
I’ve played for people of all ages, shapes, colors, and sizes, and it’s such a
great feeling to be able to do so."
What sets you aside from other artist that would fit into the same category of music as yourself?
"When I started on Myspace, the cool thing to do was auto-tune vocals over
simply an acoustic guitar and a synch lead. That’s how I started my sound!
But after working with so many producers and just experimenting myself,
I’ve tried to be the first musician to incorporate the acoustic guitar as the
main instrument with a pop beat. I’ve never heard anything comparable to
the sound that my new album has captured, so I’m REALLY excited to start
releasing everything."
Who are some artist that you would love to work with, and are you collaborating with any artist at the moment?
"My first single, “She Said”, feature Leighton Meester. It was awesome being
able to do a song with her, cuz I’ve always been a fan! Besides her, that’s
really the only collaboration I’ve done for the album. My dream collaboration
would be with Taylor Swift. I’m a big fan of her, and getting to work with her
would be a dream come true."
What's an interesting fact about yourself that many people may not know?
"Uhhh… I play the drums fairly well!"
Do you want to venture into any other aspects of the entertainment industry?
"Funny you should bring this up! I’ve always wanted to do a voice over.
Preferably for a Pixar movie, but I would take what I could get! Acting would
be fun too, but it’s nothing that I really want."
What advice would you give to someone who wants to make it as a recording artist?
"The biggest advice is to not give up. So many people quit so easily! Dreams
don’t happen over night. If things aren’t looking great, the worst thing to do
is to stop trying."
That was the last question. I want to thank you for taking the time to do the interview. Do you have any last thoughts or comments?
"Anytime. Thanks for wanting to interview me! Haha! And thank you
to everyone who takes the time to read this! WHOOP THERE IT IS!"

Justin Bieber - U Smile

Calling all Bieber fans! Check out the brand new video for Justin's song "U Smile." The video is actually pretty good, and the song isn't that bad either. This is definitely Justin Bieber's most vocally challenging song. I'm not sure if he can perform it live, but I'm actually feeling the video/song combo. Let me know what you all think!

Rihanna's New Album Cover!

It's here! Check out the cover to Rihanna's brand new album Loud. I must admit, the cover looks great! I am a big fan of Rihanna and I think she has a great talent. Last week I posted the "Only Girl" teaser that Def Jam sent over to me, which was great. I cannot wait for the release of her new album and I'm sure most of you feel the same. I'm working hard to set up an interview with Rihanna, but no promises! I'll keep all of you posted on that.

Paul Wall Assaults a Fan

What do I even say to this? At a recent Paul Wall concert, a fan gave the rapper the finger. After that, words seemed to be exchanged and then Paul Wall proceeded to beat the fan with his microphone! He then ran behind his security guards like the tough guy he is. I just have one question. Why were there any people at a Paul Wall concert in 2010?

A Serious Role for Cosgrove

The star from iCarly, Miranda Cosgrove, will be pursuing a new role in the show The Good Wife. Cosgrove will appear as a guest star in the new drama, and she'll be playing a pop star with a DUI. Miranda is a great actress, but going from Drake and Josh to iCarly wasn't that much a change. Do you think she'll be able to play the sweet Carly Shay, as well as the troubled pop star? Let me know what you think!

Vistoso Bosses Interview

Check out my exclusive interview with Taylor, of the Vistoso Bosses. She was so nice and I loved her answers! I want to thank her for taking the time to do the interview.

First, can you please introduce yourself?
Hi I'm Taylor formally Taylah P 1/2 of Vistoso Bosses. At this time I am not so boy crazy as I use to be lol, I'm more focused on music and My acting career but I'm pretty sure I will be back on the boy crazy train before long lol
When did you decide that you wanted to break into the music industry? When did you two come together to form your group?
About 3yrs ago me and My Mom were just messing around on my keyboard and we came up with a song "I can make you Bounce" she said you know you can really sing, you should start a group and from that day on I got really serious about music
Where did you come up with the name, "Vistoso Bosses?"

Just throwing out words that described us and I love Spanish so I converted the word gorgeous into Spanish and it came out Vistoso and Bosses because I always wanted to be in control of the kind of music and clothes and image of a Vistoso Boss

You've had so many accomplishments so far and I'm pretty sure there are more to come. What do you think has been your biggest accomplishment thus far?
First getting signed to Collipark Records then Interscope and being able to work with St James who gave us that sound and the song Delirious which got us on BET which got us a Reebok endorsement so it was like a snowball effect
When you first heard your song Delirious in public, how did you feel?

It was crazy, it's still crazy lol....It's such a great feeling to hear someone else sing and dance to your music because at the end of the day that's what you made it for

What was it like working with Soulja Boy, and who are some artist you'd love to work with?

Soulja was cool he's really laid back and was a gentleman, we just had a good time, no ego's just fun on the set. Other artist hmmm I want Teyanna Taylor to make some dance moves for the next single lol, there are a lot of Atlanta artist like Cyco (he's in the Say Goodbye Movie)....every time I'm asked this question my mind goes blank but there are a lot of people...can we come back to this question lol

Are you planning on venturing into any other aspect of the entertainment industry?

Acting and writing, I'm writing a book now might take a while lol, fashion of some kind at some point but not your typical clothing line. A lot of things for the Kids (love the kids) I still have to go to College of course that's on hold right now

What does the future hold for the Vistoso Bosses?

Working on the next mix tape and some new songs with the a new sound still Vistoso but you can hear the growth

What stores do you find yourself spending a lot in and what brands do you most often wear?

Betty Johnson use to be the spot, now pretty much any where if I see something "Vistoso" I get it

What's something interesting about you that people may not know?

I love McDonald fries dipped in their Strawberry milkshake (hey don't knock it till you try it lol

That was the last question. I want to thank you for taking the time to do the interview. Any last thoughts or comments?

You are so welcome. I just want all the girls out their to respect yourself. You don't have to do what everyone else is doing. I don't take any of this for granted and I am so grateful for all the support. love you guys follow Vistoso Bosses on Twitter @VistosoBosses2 and my personal twitter @SLICKLILTAYLOR (warning it may change soon lol) and my face book Taylor Blayne. This band is unstoppable! Thirty Seconds to Mars just won the award for Best Rock Video, for their song "Kings and Queens," and now they have just been nominated for three MTV EMA's. The nominations are for Best Video, Best Rock Video (King and Queens), and Best World Stage Performance. After the VMA's, Lead singer Jared Letto was a trending topic on twitter for 15 hours straight, and he was trending again after appearing on "Chelsea Lately." Alex Kemp - Heart Goes Boom

Alex Kemp, who is originally from New York, was in the acclaimed indie band Small Factory, but has now decided to make solo records. This year he will be releasing a series of 4 EP's. The first is already released and is titled "Rat D'Hotel," and the second will be released tomorrow! Check out one of my favorite songs from the EP titled "Heart Goes Boom!" With its catchy vocals/rhythms I'm sure you will all love it! For more information on Alex Kemp make sure you visit his official Myspace.

P.S. I understand the file isn't working right now. I'm hoping it will begin to work shortly!

Nicole Scherzinger on the X Factor

Lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger, will be joining the judging panel of the US version of X Factor. Nicole has been discussing contract deals with Cowell and she is now ready to move to LA to join Cheryl Cole and Simon as a judge on the X Factor. Sources are saying that Scherzinger is getting ready to sign a multimillion dollar deal. I can't wait for this show to begin. I bet there's going to be some amazing talent!

New Weezy

Check out Lil Wayne's official music video for I'm Not Human which is off of his soon-to-be-released EP tittled I Am Not a Human Being. Weezy must've been working before his prison sentence because I don't see any bars in the video! Personally, I'm not a fan of the song or the video. I'm actually getting tired of Lil Wayne, but I'm sure there are still so many people that will love this!

Jackie Evancho to Win It All

In a few hours the winner of Americas Got Talent 2010 will be announced. After watching the performances last night I really hope that Jackie wins it all! At such a young age she has proven that her voice is timeless. It soars above the rest of the competition and has such an angelic tone to it. The above video is a video of her most recent performance. Good luck to her, and to all of the contestants!

VMA 2010 Round Up

Last night was one of the biggest nights for the music industry. I'm sure that all of you watched the MTV VMA's. If you follow me on Twitter, then you already know I was tweeting my thoughts live, but of course, I promised a full article. First, I want to say that I was somewhat disappointed by the performances. Of course, there is always that one performance that stands up from the rest. This year, I definitely believe that Florence + Machine gave the performance of her life! I was amazed by the range and quality of her voice. While most artist needed aid, or auto-tuning to sing, she let her voice soar above all the other performances, which is why I want to give her a special shout-out and also congratulate her on her the award for best Art Direction. Some other notable moments of the night were Lady Gaga announcing her new record "Born This Way" along with winning Video of the Year, and Justin Bieber winning Best New Artist.
Now, to address the next issue at hand. I've been receiving tons of tweets asking whether or not I thought Justin Bieber lip synced his performance or not. I watched it over a few times and came to this conclusion. That first run from "U Smile" was definitely his own voice, but after that the performance was pre-recorded. It's not that Bieber just played the studio recording of his song, but he definitely recorded it earlier, and then played it back with his mic on low. There's no way that someone could sing like that, and dance how Bieber was dancing at the same time. Sorry to disappoint you guys! But before you guys say I'm just hating on Justin Bieber I want to say that he deserved that award for "Best New Artist." People may not like him or his type of music, but I remember seeing Justin Bieber years ago when I was browsing You Tube artist, and he does have a good voice. You can't take away the fact that the kid has talent. So congratulations to him as well! Also, congratulations to all the other winners! I hope you enjoyed the VMA's and hopefully I'll be there next year!

Bieber/Kardashian for Elle Magazine

Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian got together recently to do a photoshoot for Elle Magazine. Check out the above footage from the shoot. These two have been spending a lot of time together recently and I think it's so cool! A lot of people are overreacting about this, and they are saying that the two are in a relationship. Let's be real for just two seconds. First, Kim Kardashian is way older than Bieber, and second she can do so much better than him too! I think they just have a brother/sister type friendship. Anyway, it looks like the shoot went well! I can't wait to see some of the images.
-Jay P-

Tomorrow night is one of the most anticipated nights in the whole music industry! The MTV VMA's will air tomorrow night at 9PM ET, and I will definitely be watching. I'm looking forward to seeing performances by Drake, Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj. I also want to see what crazy outfit Lady Gaga will wear! On top of all of that, Kanye West will be returning to the VMA's. Wow! This is going to be quite the show. Make sure you tune into MTV tomorrow night! I really wanted to attend this year but unfortunately I filled out my form too late. There's always next year! Hopefully I'll be able to go next year. That would be amazing!

Video Blog

Here's my response to all of the people talking about me hating on Justin Bieber!
-Jay P-

Is the Fame Too Much for JB?

Justin Bieber recently discussed the negatives of being one of the most loved teen heart-throbs in the world, in a recent interview. He stated that girls should just try talking to him instead of screaming at him. He also said he finds it annoying to be photographed while he eats.

"And don't come up to me while I'm eating. How would you like it if I came into your house and started taking pictures of you while you were eating. I hate that."

I mean, I understand what he is saying, but at the same time there are millions of people that would give anything just to be half as famous as he is. If you're going to complain about the fame, than maybe you should go back to singing covers of Justin Timberlake songs with your little guitar on YouTube. Just a thought.

Mary Byrne

Okay, so the X Factor has become my new obsession! I'm always looking for talent competitions to watch (specifically singing) and this show actually has some great singers! I came across this video today while searching through other auditions. The woman's name is Mary Byrne, and the song she is singing is called "I Who Have Nothing," which is such a great song. I loved Jordin Sparks' rendition of the song but I must say, Mary has so much soul and power behind her voice! I really loved her version of the song. I'm sure I'll be sharing more videos from the X Factor haha!
-Jay P-

X Factor Rudeness

WOW! Check out this hilarious X Factor moment above. Two contestants that are best friends get into a fight on stage and also give the crowd and the judges an attitude! Who do they think they are...really! I think I'll be posting more videos from the X Factor because from what I've seen they actually have some pretty good talent on that show.

Appearance VS Reality

(MTV Reality Star and Aspiring Actor Carlton Totten)
Hey everyone! I just wanted to do a short post to let you all know about my most recent project. You probably already know, but I teamed up with Late Arrival Apparel, which is a clothing brand based out of Cincinnati, and had t-shirts designed. The shirts read "Appearance VS Reality" with my website url underneath. Appearance VS Reality is simply defined as "We, as people, have the ability to make our reality either more or less than our appearance." I feel that it is important to know who someone really is, and not to judge simply based of appearance. These shirts came out in limited release and are all spoken for, so unfortunately I will not be selling them online. I am currently in the process of designing more with Karelie that will probably be sold online through Late Arrival Apparel. I've included some pictures of the shirts for you all to see! I want to thank the whole Late Arrival Apparel crew, especially Julian for all of their help. Lastly, a special thanks to aspiring actor and Taking the Stage Season 2 star, Carlton Totten, for sporting the Jay Swag t-shirt in the above picture!

Allstar Weekend Interview

Check out my exclusive interview with one of the hottest new bands out there, Allstar Weekend!

1. First, can you please introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about yourselves?
I'm Zach. I'm 20 years old and I sing in Allstar Weekend. I'm Michael. I'm 21 years old and I drum. I'm Cameron. I'm 20 years old and I play bass in Allstar Weekend. I'm Nathan. I'm 19 years old and I play guitar and sing in Allstar Weekend.
2. How did you make it to where you are now, and who do you credit as your biggest supporters?
We've strove to write the best songs and to grow our fan base from the ground up. We push ourselves to become better writers, better musicians, and better role models to our fans everyday. Our fans are our biggest asset. You can have all the exposure in the world but if you don't have an amazing fan base to support you it doesn't mean anything. We also wouldn't have been able to do any of this with out our managers Richard and Stefanie Reines. They have been with us since the beginning and have continued to help us develop our talents every step of the way. In the end, we take our careers one day at a time and are always working towards more.
3. Who are some artist you would like to work with?
We've already been able to work with several of our heros. Growing up, we were fans of producers just as much as artists. We've gotten to work with producers Howard Benson, Sam and Sluggo, and John Feldmann. We've always been huge fans of their work. Hang Ups, which is an album released by John Feldmann's band Goldfinger was the first album I(Zach) ever bought. We've also written songs with Sam Means of The Format and Andrew McMahon of Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin. These experiences were dreams come true.
4. Are you working on any other projects currently, whether they be music related or not?
No. Allstar Weekend 24/7.
5. Thus far, what do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment and how do you feel about it?
I think the headlining tour we are currently on has been our biggest accomplishment. This was our first real tour outside of dingy bars and pizza parlors and it was our first time headlining. We're headlining a tour at a point in our careers where most bands support other bands. Nonetheless, kids came out. The turnouts have been great. The shows have been amazing and have far surpassed our expectations. Being able to put on your own show with your own rules is awesome. Whether the shows are big or small we're always trying to give kids a night they'll remember.
6. You guys announced you will be releasing an extended version of your album in October. Can you tell us a little bit about that, and what made you want to release an extended version?
We are releasing and extended version of our debut album Suddenly called Suddenly Yours. This new album will have 4 new songs. I know that some formats will also have four music videos and 2 bonus tracks. This is the album we always wanted to release. Suddenly was a 7-song stepping stone but this is a true full-length. We are really excited about the new songs.
7. What is your personal favorite song to perform and why?
Right now I(Zach) love to perform Amy. It's got a nice swing to it and it was one of my favorite songs to write. It's one of those songs that brings me back to being 15. I'm laying on my bed and looking up at the ceiling. I'm thinking about life and listening to music.
8. What's an interesting fact about you guys that many people would not know?
We went to the same high school as Tom from Blink-182.
9. That was the last question, I want to thank you for taking the time to do the interview. Do you have any last thoughts or comments?
You're welcome. Thanks for interviewing us. We love our fans and are so thankful we've gotten the opportunities we have. We are feeling really good about the new release, Suddenly Yours, that's coming out. We can hardly wait for everyone to hear it.

Justin Bieber and Miley Duet

Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus came together to perform a duet of Justin's song Overboard on Tuesday in NYC. Above is a little preview of their performance and I must admit, Justin is taking a lot of blog space on this website..so he must be doing something right. This performance was recorded for Justin's 3D movie that will be coming out soon, so make sure you pick that up if you want to watch the whole thing. There were also appearances by Usher, Ludacris and R&B legends Boyz II Men. If your not a Justin fan, it's still worth checking out the video for the other acts that were there! Again, as much as it bothers me to say this, the snippet above wasn't that bad..maybe Bieber really does have talent.
