Introducing Dylan Bernard

First and foremost, I want to say that I missed you guys while on hiatus. As you can see by this post I'm back! Now, let's get serious.

If you follow me on Twitter then you already know that I've been working with aspiring artist Dylan Bernard. To be completely honest that is one of the main reasons I was on hiatus. We've been working very hard lately and now I am ready to formally introduce Dylan Bernard as the first artist signed to Jay Swag Management. I am extremely excited to be working with Dylan. He is one of the most down to earth, ambitious, and talented people I've met. I know most of you know Dylan as my "brother," best friend, and co-host of Jay Swag TV and now I want you to know Dylan as the artist that he truly is. Check out his most recent video, a cover of No Air by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown. The video also features my current YouTube Artist of the Month Jenna Sousa

I want all of you to comment/rate/subscribe and let us know what you think! Make sure you check out Dylan's YouTube channel DylanTBernard  and follow him on Twitter @DTBMuzic and Keek @DylanTBernardMusic

Thank you guys for being patient while I was away. Your support means the world to me, and I know that you will love what's coming for Dylan and I. I'm excited to see what's next for our lives. It's crazy how quickly things change, but we're ready to take on any challenges that are thrown our way. This is no longer a one man show, but I wouldn't want to share Jay Swag with anyone other than Dylan.

Hiatus - I Promise I'll Be Back

Hello! First and foremost I want to say that this post is not exactly easy for me to write. I love Jay Swag Entertainment News and everything it stand for, and I would not be the person I am today if it weren't for this blog. I have interviewed tons of celebrities and met some amazing people on this journey, but my most incredible experience has certainly been interacting with you guys; my readers. When I first started this blog I had no idea how big it would get. I understand that I still have a long way to go before I get to where I want to be, but the daily comments, emails, and tweets are definitely the driving force behind my ambition.

That being said, there comes a time when decisions must be made, and this is one of those times. It pains me to admit this, but I need a break. This decision has not come easily and I have spoken with my closest friends on this matter. Not all of them support my idea, but at the end of the day I believe that you have to be true to yourself and I know that this is exactly what I need.

I know by this point most of you are probably asking yourselves the main question; "how long will the break be?" I can guarantee you that the break will be no longer than two weeks. I am going on vacation next week, and while I'm there I may be working on some things for the website. At the end of the day, I am just taking a break from posting. I will still be on Twitter (@OfficialJaySwag) and I will certainly check my comments daily, and respond to you guys. I'm not leaving you. I am so grateful for your support and that is the last thing I want you to think. I will also be setting up interviews, so when I do return I can come back with a bang! Thank you guys for everything you have done for me. I hope you understand.

Beauty and A Beat - Justin Bieber ft Nicki Minaj

I knew it would only be a matter of time before these two superstars teamed up for a song. If I'm being completely honest, I was a little apprehensive when I saw that a song featuring both Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj had been released, but after listening to it I must admit that I'm a fan! Take a listen to Beauty and A Beat which will appear on Justin Bieber's sophomore album Believe. Justin sounds pretty good and I love Nicki's verse. Overall, I'm really feeling this song! Do you guys like it?

Drew Ryniewicz Interview

I don't usually fan out over interviews, but I must say when I found out I was interviewing Drew fom X Factor I was pretty excited! She was one of my favorite contestants on the show and from the first time she sang I knew that I just had to interview her! Check out our conversation below.

Hi Drew! Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with Jay Swag Entertainment News. First, can you please introduce yourself and just tell us a little bit about yourself?
"I'm Drew, I come from a small town with a big heart!  Some say I'm a bit of a weirdo, and I say love who you are; you're YOU for a reason.  Singing is my love."

When did you start singing? At what age did you realize you wanted to pursue music as a career?
"I started singing when I was 7, I sang in my schools talent shows, and some musical theater, I even did a classical music competition.  Then I entered into a few local competitions that took the crowd by surprise. Although I am not a competitive person by nature, these competitions revealed that singing on stage is where I loves to be.  After being a part of The XFactor was when I really wanted to pursue music as a career."

When you started to take singing seriously were your friend supportive?
"My friends and family have always been very supportive, they always showed up at the shows and competitions I performed in, even traveling to LA for The XFactor."

I love your voice! It's so unique and I could listen to it all day. How would you describe your sound to a new listener? Who are your biggest musical influences?
"Thanks! I'd describe my sound as organic/acoustic/raw country pop. I know its a mouthful, but I really like to keep my music real and down to earth.  I have many musical influences, to pick one would not be fair, my list is long but to name a few: Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Jessie J, Jack Johnson and many many more."

When you auditioned for the X Factor were you nervous to sing Justin Bieber's song in front of L.A. Reid, or were you confident that your version would be different enough?
"What's funny is that I didn't really even process that I was singing a Justin Bieber song for LA Reid, until, I think it was a camera man, came up to me and whispered that to me like 5 minutes before I went on stage. At that point I was freaking out, I wanted to change my song choice, because I knew they'd either hate it or love it, but there was not gonna be an in between.  And it was a success!"

Tell us a little bit about your experience on X Factor? What was your favorite performance? What was it like to sing with Justin Bieber?
"I had such a blast on The XFactor, I made friends for life, friends who share the same passion as me. I have gained a bigger perspective for life and what it means to really follow your dreams and passions. I'd have to say that I had two performances that are my favorite,  Just a Dream, because I got to have alot of fun with it  and the other, well, I have four words, Justin Bieber is amazing!"

What does the future have in store for Drew Ryniewicz as an artist? Are you working on any new material?
"I'm currently working on an album, been in the studio writing and recording like crazy!! I'm beyond stoked to share my music!"

A friend of mine is a huge fan of yours. I was wondering if you could give him a shout out? His name is Dylan and his Twitter username is @DTBMuzic.
"Hey Dylan, thanks for supporting me, your just dandy! woohoo @DTBMuzic!!!"

You are so young, yet already so accomplished. It's very obvious that this is just the beginning for you, but if you could accomplish one thing in your career, what would it be? What do you want your legacy as an artist to be?
"I would love to be able to inspire people, not just by my music but my heart.  I want other people to see me as an artist from a small town, not giving up on being exactly who I am, and to not allow others, or any circumstance or surroundings make you feel you can't do what you love."

That was the last question. Again, thank you so much for speaking with us! Do you have any last thoughts or comments?
“Thank you so much for interviewing me, I look forward to sharing my music and adventures soon!”

True Blood Season 5 Premiere

My favorite show on television, True Blood, is finally back! I feel like I've been waiting for so long just to see a new episode and after last night I can say I'm looking forward to the rest of this season. I won't be giving anything away, just in case you missed it, but I will say that the first episode included all of our favorite characters and more! After the cliff hanger season finale from last year I had to see what would happen to Tara, and I'm glad that we got our answer.

Since it was the first episode there wasn't an overwhelming amount of action but I'm okay with that. The thing with season premiere's is this; most of the time they are just setting up the rest of the season. I think they did a very good job at that without giving us too much to take in. Overall I'm ready for the next episode and I really hope this season does well. To all my older readers, if you haven't checked out True Blood make sure you tune into HBO at 9pm est on Sundays.

Sean Kingston & T.I. - Back 2 Life

Sean Kingston is back! He just released the video for his single Back 2 Life which is off his upcoming studio album of the same name. The song samples Soul II Soul's hit Back To Life and features T.I. I think it's great that Sean Kingston is back on the music scene. I was actually just thinking about him the other day, and wondering when he would start to make a comeback.

His upcoming album sounds like it's going to be a good one too! It's going to feature some of today's top artists such as Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, Busta Rhymes and Shakira. I'm definitely going to have to check it out when it's released.

Mercy Music Video: Happy Birthday Kanye

I meant to post this a few days ago but I've been pretty caught up with a few other things. Since it's been a  couple of days since it's release I wasn't going to post it, but I figure it would be fine to post today, especially since it is Kanye West's birthday. So, for his birthday, here is the official music video for his new track Mercy. Let me know what you think!

Lil Wayne Pulls Nicki From Concert

No one messes with Nicki! The superstar rapper was set to perform at New York's Hot 97 Summer Jam concert last night, but after the one of the DJ's hosting the event dissed her, Lil Wayne immediately pulled Nicki from the event. Here's exactly what went down.

Apparantly, DJ Peter Rosenberg took the stage to introduce an opening act and said, "I know there are some chicks in here waiting to sing along with 'Starships' later...I'm not talking to y'all now f**k that bulls**t." The minute that Lil Wayne heard this he made a few calls and got Nicki out of the show. Nicki tweeted; "U n****z just f****d up history. But the president has spoken #YMCMB..Had a hell of a lineup. But we won't be disrespected."

Twitter was then tossed into chaos. My whole timeline was talking about the incident. Some were saying that they were happy that DJ Peter Rosenberg was being honest. They declared him the "savior of hip-hop." Other's were saying that he is just a DJ and his personal opinion should not have been revealed, especially considering it didn't effect him, but the fans that paid to see Nicki. Personally, I believe he should've kept his mouth shut. As a host of an event it is important to remain professional and treat all of your guests with respect. He gave a bad name to the radio station and just disappointed all of their listeners. What are your thoughts on the incident?

Highschool Graduate !

(Katie Jo and I: We've graduated Kindergarten, 8th grade, and high school together. I'm going to miss her so much next year.)

I can't believe I'm sitting here writing this post. It's so weird to me, but yesterday I graduated from high school. These past four years have played such a huge role on helping me become the person I am today. I couldn't have asked for a better high school experience, and even though I complained (a lot) I really am grateful for the time I spent at Paul VI.

(Me, Ang, Mr. Markellos, Olivia)

I made a bunch of friends, and of course a few enemies, but at the end of the day every single person in PVI Class of 2012 has affected me in one way or another. To all my young readers out there I just have one piece of advice for you; enjoy your childhood. I know all of you probably complain about school everyday but trust me, when your sitting there on your graduation day, you'll definitely wish you had just one more year with your friends.

(Bri and I)

I wanted to make this a really nice sentimental post but I'm at a lost for words. I just want to wish everyone in my class the best of luck in everything they do. I hope they can all find themselves in these next few years and I hope all their dreams come true. Lastly, I want to thank my friends for being there for me through it all. Even the ones I don't talk to anymore; thank you. Anyway, I hope you guys liked this graduation post! Below are some pictures from my friend Olivia's graduation party.

Meet The Artist: Baker

Check out Baker! This New York native is making big moves. His style and sound is unique and he's definitely someone to keep an eye on. Be sure to follow him on Twitter @BakerMusic. Also, if you live in the New York area you may be interested in his upcoming show: Saturday, June 16 at Pianos (158 Ludlow St. New York, New York) at 7:00pm. Check out our interview below.

First, can you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself?
“I'm BAKER and I'm a singer/songwriter from New York and now living in Los Angeles.”

Your song "Echo" is very catchy and has a different feel to it. What was your inspiration behind the song?
“I had just started dating someone and there were a lot of games being played. It was frustrating and yet, I couldn't wait to see her again. It's that moment when you know you've lost control of the situation and you're in for a ride.”

Where did you come up with your unique sound, and how would you describe it to someone who hasn't listened to your music?
“I'd say that my sound has a variety of influences but is rooted most in pop: classic structures and melodies layered in heavy synths and drum machines.”

If you could work with any artist in the world who would you pick and why?
“I would work with Nero because their music is both transcendent and introspective at the same time. Really amazing stuff.”

I heard you performed at the famous SXSW. What was that like?
“It was a blast! I knew going in that I wasn't like the other acts performing there but the crowds were so open to hearing new music and it made the experience really special.”

What can you tell us about your album? What should your fans expect?
“It will be what I want an album to be: epic bangers, big soaring ballads and everything in between. I think even though there will be different influences throughout, the energy and lyrics and feeling will be there to fit everything together.”

That was the last question. I want to thank you for taking the time to speak with Jay Swag Entertainment News. Do you have any last thoughts or comments?
“And thank you very much! All I can say is that I will be releasing new material starting next month and if you like Echo, just wait...”
