Forty Nine Days in the Bardo - Laurie Anderson

I was just sent this amazing video in which Laure Anderson walks through the new multimedia show "Forty Nine Days in the Bardo," which is currently on display at The Fabric Workshop and Museum. The video gives you a quick glimpse of this amazing exhibit. Laurie Anderson explains that the "Forty Nine Days in the Bardo" is what the Tibetans believe to be the period in which your mind dissolves and you become what you are without a physical body. The exhibit looks incredible and I wish had the time to stop by and see it. Since I won't be able to go myself, you guys should do me a favor and check it out for me! If you do, leave me a comment letting me know what you thought of it. Again, the exhibit is on display at The Fabric Workshop and Museum located in Philadelphia. Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries Divorce

Well, it's true. After only 72 days of marriage the couple is splitting apart. I truly believed that the marriage would last longer and I am somewhat disappointed to see that the two are getting a divorce. Kim Kardashian released the following statement regarding the split:

"After careful consideration I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever but somethings don't work out as planned... We remain friends and wish each other the best."

In the divorce paperwork Kim cites irreconcilable differences as the main reason as to why the two are getting a divorce. Even if Kim and Kris couldn't stand each other I feel like they should have found a way to coexist for the time being. A divorce this quickly will definitely cause some damage to the Kardashian brand. I've already read some nasty comments and tweets regarding Kim and her family. Personally, I am disappointed with the divorce but there's not much that can be done now.

Day 26 Returns

For all you Making the Band fans out there I have some good news! After dropping their old label, and one of their members, the R&B group plans to make a return with their upcoming album. I interviewed Willie a while back and he had mentioned that the group was working on new material, but I hadn't heard anything from them since. I'm glad to see that they will finally be releasing new songs. I thought that they were extremely talented as a group and I feel that with the right marketing they will do well. The group is also planning to launch a web series. I wonder if they'll be signing any contracts with any major stations to get another reality show? I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Jennifer Lopez Covers Glamour

It seems that going through a divorce has put Jennifer Lopez back in the spotlight! In addition to her hit songs JLo recently scored the cover or Glamour Magazine. The American Idol judge and pop super star looks stunning not only on the cover, but on the inside spread. In this issue she speaks about her divorce, saying; "You've got to be OK on your own before you can be OK with someone else." I think that is such a true quote and I hope that the divorce stays clean. It should be interesting to see where she goes with her career in the upcoming months. Be sure to check out the newest issue of Glamour to see the full spread and interview with Jennifer Lopez.

X Factor Live Show

Last night the next X Factor started with it's Live Shows. As much as I love some of the contestants, none of the performances were amazing, at least not in my opinion. That being said, below are my favorite performances of each of the categories.

Groups - Stereo Hogzz

Boys: Marcus Canty

Over 30's - Stacy Francis

Girls - Melanie Amaro

Now, I know that most of these performances aren't perfect; none of them were last night. I do however feel that these performances connected with the audience and had that unique quality that a successful artist needs. Also, Melanie's performance seemed somewhat rushed at the beginning, which may have led to her being a little pitchy on some notes. Aside from those notes though, Melanie proved that she has a powerful voice and such a strong, pure, tone. Lastly, if you follow me on Twitter than you know that I was complaining all night about the host. He does a terrible job! I really hope that they get a co-host or a new host all together. I'm not sure if I can deal with him rushing the judges every time the show is on.

Straight Talk - October

This post brought to you by Straight Talk. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love the idea that I can feel richer with Straight Talk and with The power of Android, Straight Talk can cut your phone bill in half! No one wants to have those annoying contracts any more, and with Straight Talk you can get everything you need, without the hassle of a long time contract. One of my biggest pet peeves is knowing that I can't upgrade my phone when I want because I'm on a contract. With Straight Talk that is not a problem. Long term contracts tie you down, but Straight Talk makes it easy for you to adjust your plan whenever you want.
Are you thinking about the amount of money you can save? I know I am! I can definitely use the extra money to get some clothes, or even put the money back in to the website. What would you do with the extra money?
There are no contracts, surprise bills or credit checks. They also have exceptional reception and great brands of phones such as LG, Motorola, and Kyocera, just to name a few. Most of these companies require you to purchase their phones, which can be very limited in what they can and cannot do. With Straight talk you'll be able to call a friend in no time. You'll even be able to browse the web, play music, share pictures and video, and do so much more with reliable brand name cell phones.
There's a plan for every one. The "All You Need Plan" gives you 1,000 minutes, 1,000 texts and 30 MB of web data. If that's not enough there's an unlimited monthly service for $45 dollars, which includes calls, text, picture messaging and web. Think about that! Unlimited calls, text, picture messaging and web for only $499 a year. 411 calls are included as well. You can even get international calling at an extremely affordable rate. I know from experience that your phone bill can get pretty high if you don't have an international plan. That's definitely a huge plus in my book!
You get everything you need.  Check out this video and you'll see why mom knows best.
There's such a great selection of phones, such as touch screens, app capable phones, and even ones with voice navigation! You should definitely check out Straight Talk and find out if it is the right choice for you. What are you waiting for. Go to Straight Talk and Feel Richer with Android today!

Ashanti Covers Whitney Houston

Okay, so everyone is talking about Ashanti covering Whitney Houston's songs with David Foster. Above is the footage of Ashanti singing "I Have Nothing," and "I Will Always Love You." All I kept hearing was how terrible the performance was so I decided to go look it up on YouTube.  First off, her performance of "I Have Nothing" was actually pretty good. "I Will Always Love You," on the other hand, was not so great. Still, there is no need to say that the performances were "terrible" or that your "ears were bleeding" because I don't think you could do any better. I think most people are just trying to jump on the bandwagon and talk bad about the video just because everyone else is doing so. Be yourselves guys! Don't just say what everyone else is saying. Oh, and if I hear one more thing about Charice being better than Whitney Houston, Ashanti, and every other singer in the world I'm going to freak out. Yes, Charice is an amazing singer, but no, she is not the greatest singer in the world, and to say that she sings the song better than Whitney Houston is just plain disrespectful.

Nicki Minaj OPI Nail Lacquer Collection

Superstar Nicki Minaj has just announced that she will be releasing her very own line of nail polishes. She has teamed up with OPI to come up with a line of polishes that will be available in 2012. The colors all seem to be pretty cool, and they are all named after, or inspired by, songs on Pink Friday. I think it's great that she's venturing out into different areas and making herself a true mogul. Check out the polishes below and  let me know what you think.

We Found Love - Rihanna

I feel like every single day there's another relevant music video that I have to post. Today, I wanted to share Rihanna's official video for "We Found Love." Rihanna has become one of the world's biggest star and it seems that everything she does is perfect. Her most recent video depicts the super star "finding love" in drugs and wild behavior. By the end of the video Rihanna realizes that the relationship was a bad one, and that it would not work. With "Man Down" and now "We Found Love," Rihanna's videos have been sending such powerful messages. I love the video and I like how well the story is told.

Try With Me - Nicole Scherzinger

Check out Nicole Scherzinger's new video for "Try With Me," produced by Nervo. The song is a great song for Nicole, and the video is just as good. Nicole looks stunning and the scenery is amazing. She also sounds incredible. I wish she sang more songs like this because it shows off that she is actually a really good singer. She's definitely underrated in my opinion. Be sure to pick up her new album, Killer Love, which will be released on December 6th.

Marcus Canty Covers All My Life

I just got done catching up with last nights episode of X Factor. First, can I just see that there are so many talented performers on this show.  I mean, every week I have a different favorite. Last night's stand out performance, in my opinion at least, was Marcus Canty singing "All My Life"by Casey & JoJo. He has such a great stage presence and he didn't seem to be affected by Rihanna and L.A. Reid. Rihanna also makes the comment that he stared right into her eyes. That alone proves that he will be able to connect with his audience. Anyway, feel free to check out Marcus Canty's performance above, and to leave your thoughts and comments.

Can You Keep Up With The Kardashians?

With the past wedding special and the upcoming season of Kim and Kourtney take new York, who knew that the Kardashians were a track to be a billion dollar empire?

They are easily following in the footsteps of Jessica Simpson. The Sears line alone is supposed to rake in $200-300 Million easily this year. And to think, last year as a family they made 26 million! I can't believe the amount of money these girls are making. Khloe and Lamar's unisex fragrance plus Kim's 3 pull in another $50 million. They also have a QVC line that is selling really well. So what is coming that will solidify their presence in the retail market? Sears is going to expand the Kardashian Kollection into home, baby and denim AMONG OTHER THINGS in Spring 2012. Well, Keeping up with the Kardashians is no joke!

Stacy Francis Sings Purple Rain

This performance is just amazing. Stacy Francis, one of my favorite contestants on The X Factor, performed her own version of "Purple Rain" last night, and what a rendition it was. Music is more than just what you hear, it's also what you feel, and when Stacy is performing I get chills. She has that unique gift to move her audience. I have no clue why she it has taken so long for her to have her moment, but I really hope that she goes far in this competition. Just seeing the effect she has on Nicole Scherzinger and Enrique Iglesias proves that she has what it takes to make it in this industry. Good luck to Stacy Francis, as well as to all of the other contestants. We are definitely in for a great season.

Christina Grimmie on Ellen

Okay. Before you guys start spamming the comment section telling me that this video is a few days old, let me just say that I know. I meant to blog this video right after it happened but I got caught up with different advertisements and projects. That being said, check out YouTube's biggest star, Christina Grimmie, performing her own version of Lil Wayne's "How to Love" on Ellen. I had featured Grimmie a while ago and have been tracking her career ever since. She is such an amazing singer and the fact that she comes from Marlton, NJ, makes it even better! Anyway, let me know what you think of this performance, and if you are a Christina Grimmie fan!

iOS 5 Update Problems

Okay...so if you follow me on Twitter then you completely understand my frustration, and might as well not even read this. I woke up early today, went to a retreat, and then came home thinking that I would finally be able to update my iPhone to the newest version of Apple's iOS. Of course, I anticipated a problem for the first time I tried, but figured it would be smooth sailing after that. WRONG. I have now been sitting at my computer trying to update my iPhone since 2pm. It's even gotten to the point that it begins to update and restart...and then stop in the middle. I'm hoping it works soon, but if not I will continue to vent my frustration through Twitter. I want to hear your stories though. Have you been able to download the new iOS, or are you just as unfortunate as I am? Feel free to share!

Rihanna Releases 6th Album Cover

Rihanna released the cover of her 6th studio album "Talk That Talk." I'll be completely honest...I had no idea Rihanna was already releasing another album. I feel like I shouldn't have admitted that to you guys, but really, I had absolutely no clue. Regardless, I think the cover is pretty catchy and I'm interested in hearing what sound she is going for this time around. The album comes out on November 21st and features the hit song "We Found Love." We'll be listening Rihanna!

Casio Baby-G Sweepstakes

This post brought to you by Baby-G. All opinions are 100% mine.
Fashion brand Baby-G is always on top! They are now partnering with superstar Ke$ha in order to create two watches. The two watches that are currently available are a Red White & Blue watch, and a Leopard Print watch. I think both of the watches are extremely stylish and I would buy one of I were you! You can use the red/white/blue one to give a little pop of color to an all black outfit, or if you want, throw on the leopard watch for a iconic look! Both are huge trends right now.  It is no surprise that the pop star loves leopard print, and she hopes that by incorporating this look in her watches, it will inspire others to express themselves fully and release their inner animal

That's not all though! there is an official Baby-G sweepstakes that you all should definitely check out! They are giving out four Baby-G Watches to four winners. All you have to do like Baby-G's official Facebook page, and tweet your favorite watch with the hashtag #babyg. To see all of the contest rules click the previous link. I've seen the watches and if I were you I would definitely take the time to enter the contest. What do you have to lose?

Nicki Minaj Was Once Suicidal

Rap superstar Nicki Minaj is currently on top of the world. She is the only relevant female rapper in the industry right now, and has everything she could possibly ask for. This, however, does not mean that her life was always a piece of cake. Minaj recently spoke out about a time in her life when she felt suicidal. She tells Cosmopolitan Magazine, "I kept having doors slammed on my face...I felt like nothing was working. I had moved out on my own, and here I was thinking I'd have to go home. It was one dead end after another. At one point, I was like, 'What would happen if I just didn't wake up?' That's how I felt. Like maybe I should just take my life?" I'm so happy that things turned around for Nicki, and I think it is extremely commendable that she talks about her past so openly. Hopefully her words can inspire people and let everyone know that things do get better.

Drew Ryniewicz - X Factor Bootcamp Audition

Drew Ryniewicz has become one of my favorite contestants in the X Factor so far. Her boot camp auditions prove that she has what it takes to be a star. She has a great voice, and a unique tone that almost reminds me of the late Amy Winehouse. I think she'll go very far. Aside from her I like Marcus Canty, Stacy Francis, Melanie Amaro, and Rachel Crow. I can't wait to see all of their performances. I definitely like the show more than American Idol!

Willow Smith Ft. Nicki Minaj - Fireball

I've been so busy lately, but I wanted to quickly share this. Check out "Fireball" by Willow Smith and Nicki Minaj. I was waiting for more music by Willow, but honestly I think that she should just now. I feel like her voice needs to mature a little more. On another note, I love Nicki in this song, and I think it's so nice of her to take out time of her schedule to record a song with Willow. Overall, it's a fun song, but it definitely won't be winning any awards.

RIP Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple and it's products such as the iPad, iPod, MacBook, iMac, iTunes, and the revolutionary iPhone, has passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The news broke this evening, October 5th, and almost every media outlet has been covering it. Steve Jobs revolutionized the world and helped create technology that no one can match. He was a true visionary that leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. Jobs was 56-years-old. RIP.

Jessica Jarrell Interview

Check out my exclusive interview with Jessica Jarrell!

Thank you for taking the time to speak with Jay Swag Entertainment News. First, can you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself?

"Of course! I'm Jessica Jarrell and I'm a recording artist and brand ambassador for Pastry shoes."

At what age did you start becoming interested in the entertainment industry? What made you want to pursue music?

"I started modeling when I was 4 years old...I really had no interest in music until I was 11. I was at school and my friends MADE me audition for this Christmas play they were having.  We thought we were in the acting auditions but somehow we ended up in the singing auditions lol! That was the first time I really tried to sing...and it worked. I fell in love with it."

Your first professional performance was for the Obama's at The White House. Can you tell us a little bit about that, and how you were feeling as you were performing?

"It's funny because my mom told me and I swear I couldn't breathe lol I was so overwhelmed because a little bit before that I was watching other young celebrities perform for his Inauguration Ball and I wanted to be there so bad. So it was really just a dream come true that I was there only a couple of months later. When it was time for me to get on stage I was so nervous because it was my first real show and it was happening at such a historical time; the first black President.  I just felt so honored."

How did you go about becoming friends with Justin Bieber? Are you two still friends?

"Me and Justin met a few years ago at a dinner with Nick Cannon and Baby Face to discuss Nick's movie we were gonna be in called The School Gyrls. We became friends while filming and that led to a duet and of course, a tour. We are still very close! He's such a great person."

So I've read that you started your career modeling. Are you interested in pursuing any other aspects of the entertainment industry, or are you strictly focusing on singing at the moment?

"I am definitely interested in pursuing other things like acting and more modeling. My work with Pastry allows me to do runway shows and photo shoots where I'm modeling, as opposed to photo shoots that I do as an artist representing myself."

What's an interesting fact about you, that many people may not know?

"Something that will probably shock people is that I'm a science geek lol It's my favorite subject in school. I actually really like doing science home work! Biology, chemistry, physics, they're all interesting to me lol I was in the studio a few weeks ago and Mike Posner was helping me finish my physics :p"

Are you currently working on any projects that you can tell us about?

"Yes!!! I'm gonna be putting out an EP in a couple of weeks! I'm so excited! I think everybody will really love the songs and my new sound!"

If you could work with any artist who would you choose and why?

"I would really love to work with Chris Brown! He's such an incredible artist. I think it would be really cool if we did a song together!"

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

"Creative, edgy, and talkative lol"

Again, I want to thank you for taking the time to complete the interview. Do you have any last thoughts or comments

"No matter what people say..be yourself! do you and have fun :)"

Apple iPhone 4s

Today, Apple held it's "Let's Talk iPhone" event. While many people anxiously awaited for the announcement of the iPhone 5, most were disappointed. Apple did not announce their iPhone 5, however they did announce the upcoming release of an iPhone 4s. I didn't actually watch the conference myself so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there is little to no change in appearance of the 4s, and the 4. There are, however, a handful of upgrades. The iPhone 4s will have an 8-mega pixel camera, which will allow for videos to be taken in 1080p rather than 720p. It will incorporate a dual core A5 chip(whatever that means), and it will have Siri integrated. There are some more minor upgrades, but in my opinion there isn't much difference. If you don't have an iPhone, and planned on getting the 4, you might as well wait for the 4s, but if you do have an iPhone 4, I see no reason to upgrade right away. Let me know what you think of the new iPhone. Were you disappointed with the the event?

Misha Bryan - X Factor UK

So I know that I've been blogging about The X Factor a lot recently, but I just can't help it. I've always watched the UK performances and auditions online and now that there is a US version I get to see both. I've been keeping track of the UK version and have become obsessed with Misha Bryan. Misha is a 19-year-old student who auditions with her own version of "Respect" by Aretha Franklin. She began singing the song with great vocals, and she had that unique tone needed to pull it off. Then, she did her own thing with a rap and I absolutely loved it. Her next audition was "Survivor" by Destiny's Child. It's always tough singing a song infront of the performing artist (Kelly Rowland is a judge in the UK), but Misha did great. Most recently, Misha performed "Fly" by Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. Now, you all know that I am obsessed with Nicki and "Fly" is one of my favorite songs off of Pink Friday, so I was a little weary when I heard she picked that song...I actually like her version at least as just as much as the original, if not better. Look up Misha Bryan when you get a chance. I wish she was in the US version!

Who You Are - Jessie J

Jessie J recently released her video for "Who You Are." I wasn't sure if I was going to post it, but I watched it a few times and decided to share it on the site. I love Jessie J and I think she has an amazing voice. The range that this girl has is incredible. The video is quite simple, but when you have a voice like hers you don't really need all of the special effects. I actually like the song too. Good job Jessie J! She's definitely one to watch out for and I'm predicting her career to be super successful.

Jazzlyn Little - X Factor

I didn't get to post about Thursday's episode of X Factor yesterday, but I wanted to post at least this one video. When 16-year-old Jazzlyn Little walked out on the stage she had absolutely no confidence. She came off as extremely shy so I wasn't really sure what to expect. Then, she started singing. She didn't have the big powerhouse vocals that some of the other performers had, but she didn't need them. There was just something special and I definitely believe that we will be hearing a lot more from Jazzlyn. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong but I just feel like she has the "x factor," if you will.
