Sean Kingston Critically Injured

Singer Sean Kingston was critically injured at 6pm last night during a jet ski accident in Florida. Sources are stating that he was riding the jet ski with a female passenger, when the two crashed into a bridge. A passerby came to the rescue and pulled them out of the water. A rep said that Kingston suffered severe injuries and is now in the hospital. Celebrities are taking to Twitter to support Kingston. Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj are just a few of the multiple stars tweeting their prayers for Sean Kingston and his family. I hope everything is okay, and I'm praying for a quick recovery for both him and the female passenger.

Nicole Scherzinger Covers Adele

I'm thoroughly surprised with this video! Nicole Scherzinger decided that she was going to cover Adele's Rolling in The Deep at a private Hugo Boss party. This is a gutsy move for any recording artist, but it's especially risky for one who's known for their pop vocals. I've recently been obsessed with this song and when I heard that Nicole had covered it I was a little scared, however after hearing it I must say that I love this version! I had no idea that she had pipes like that. I really think she should do more songs like this and less pop/dance songs. It showcases her voice so much more!

Say Hello To Goodbye - Shontelle

Friend of Jay Swag, Shontelle, has recently released her music video for her latest single Say Hello To Goodbye. I love the song and the video! Shontelle looks gorgeous, and she sounds great too. I really hope to hear more from her soon. She's such a nice person, and she's extremely talented.

Lil Chuckee - Bride of Chuckee Mixtape

Young Money's very own Lil Chuckee just released his highly anticipated debut mixtape, The Bride of Chuckee. The mix tape is a little bit different from what we are used to hearing from Chuckee and I respect his decision to try something different. Some songs included on the mixtape are Chuckee's freestyle to "Just The Way You Are," "Mr. Telephone Man," and "I'm Ready." While I do not believe any of the tracks will be breaking the billboard top 10, or even becoming a radio sensation, Lil Chuckee is definitely developing as an artist, and steps up his game with hot beats and lyrics. I won't lie and say he is the greatest rapper out there, but for his age he is doing very well and I see so much potential in him. If I had to choose one criticism to bring up, it would be the fact that he sounded a little too much like Lil Wayne in my opinion. I really hope to hear a little more originality in his style on his next mixtape. He's so young and has plenty of time to mature. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him on the forefront of the Young Money powerhouse someday. Just the fact that he's a member of YMCMB shows that so many people, including Wayne, see something in him. My personal favorite songs on the mixtape are "MIAMI Boc" and the bonus track "What They Hatin' 4" which features Roscoe Dash. They both go in with a nice chorus and a sick verse or two. Overall it's a good mixtape and definitely worth downloading. I hope to see Lil Chuckee lay down some nice tracks whenever his debut album is released. By the way, I love the mixtape art work. Download the mixtape by clicking HERE

Scotty McCreery Wins American Idol

Last night the winner of the 10th season of American Idol was crowned. Congratulations to Scotty McCreery who is, at 17, the youngest contestant to ever win American Idol. Now, if you follow me on Twitter than you know that I was never Scotty's biggest fan, however after his performance last night with Tim McGraw I realized that I was...wrong. You will usually never hear me admit that I'm wrong but on this occasion it's something I have to do. Scotty is an extremely talented singer and I hope to interview him soon. Also, congratulations to runner up Lauren Alaina. Did anyone else notice the chemistry between them? Lauren Alaina has hinted at them dating, but neither has confirmed it. What do you think?

Best Love Song - T-Pain Ft. Chris Brown

Check out the just released music video for Best Love Song by Chris Brown and T-Pain. I love the song and I think it's really catchy. I've always felt that T-Pain and Chris Brown made a good team ever since their Kiss Kiss days, however I'm not a huge fan of the video. Overall it's not bad, but with all of the creative videos coming out lately I really think that Chris and T-Pain could've stepped their game up. Let me know what you think!

Jersey Shore Cast Fight

I don't know about you, but ever since season one I've been waiting for The Situation to get what he deserves for starting so much drama and being an instigator. Well, if you agree with me than I have some good news! Ronnie Ortiz and The Situation had it out the other night. As you can see above Mike has some bruises and cuts on his face. Sources are stating that Ronnie is not injured at all, and that the fight began over Sammi. I really hope they put this in the show because I have to see what happened! Even in Italy they cause so much drama.

Beyonce At The Billboard Music Awards

Okay, I admit it! I didn't really watch the Billboard Music Awards last night (but I do have them on my DVR and I'll be watching them soon). I did, however, see this amazing performance by Beyonce. She performed her newest single Run The World, and while I'm not a big fan of the song, I must say that this performance is so creative and extremely entertaining. On another note, over 8million people tuned into the Billboard Awards! I'm going to watch it and post about it later, but it's just going to be a quick review since it already happened.

Selena Gomez Paints Horses Pink

Photos have recently surfaced of Selena Gomez and her pink horses. The pictures were taken on the set of her video shoot for "I Love You Like A Love Song." Gomez's decision angered singer P!nk, who then tweeted "If there are any animal activists around Malibu- at Leo Cabrillo State Beach, there are horses being painted for a stupid music video. Shame." Selena's reps then responded by saying "A non-toxic, vegetable based powder paint was applied via an airbrush and removed with water. An official from the Humane Society was on set supervising." It's good to see that Selena Gomez and her team were smart enough to have officials there, but the whole situation could have been avoided if they just used special effects to make the horses pink. That seems more logical and so much easier.

Justin Bieber On Forbes Top 100 Celebrities

Justin Bieber has recently made his debut on Forbes Magazine list of top 100 celebrities. I knew that he would have to make the list but I'm a little distraught at the fact that he landed the number 3 spot. In most peoples eyes this makes Justin Bieber the third most powerful person in the entertainment industry...I'm not quite sure how I feel about that. Number two goes to Oprah, and the number one celebrity right now goes to Lady Gaga. She made over 90million dollars on her Monster Ball Tour alone. Congratulations to everyone who made the list! I'll be on there some day.

New True Blood

I cannot express how excited I am for the new season of True Blood! Check out this new trailer. True Blood is one of the very few shows that I watch week to week (that is not a reality show) and I feel like everyone should at least watch one episode. I know that you'll get hooked! The trailer just makes me want June 26th to come so much quicker. Are you ready for the new season of True Blood?

Nicki Minaj Hires New Management

Rap princess Nicki Minaj is parting with her current managers Diddy and James Cruz. Sources are saying that there are no hard feelings between Bad Boy Management and Nicki Minaj, which is always good to hear. She will now be managed by Gee Roberson and Kyambo "Hip-Hop" Joshua, whose company manages A listers such as Lil Wayne, Drake, and Young Jeezy. There are no confirmed reasons as to why Nicki chose to leave her former management, but I'm hoping we'll hear something soon. Everything seemed to be going so well for her. At least there was no feud between the two.

Dave Patten Interview

Check out my exclusive interview with singer-songwriter Dave Patten. The interview was done by a Jay Swag intern named Zac Mangaro (@ZMangaro).

First could you please introduce yourself?
"My name is Dave Patten. I'm a singer-songwriter from Philadelphia."
What inspired you to start making music?
"When I was in 7th grade I went to summer camp with my best friend at the time. We spent most of the summer preparing for it and figuring out ways to win over girls haha. so that was the very first motivation for my songwriting. But it suck with me, even today all of my songs come from girls."
What makes you most proud about being from the Philly area?
"I grew up here, you have to have pride in your hometown!! I love everything about it except for the horribly cold and long winters haha."
How would you best describe your unique style of music?
"I have a tough time categorizing it, because it doesn't really satisfy any one genre. I usually go with "pop" and then tell people to listen to it before they judge."
Where did you learn the skills of a producer, artists, and songwriter? Most people find it difficult to do even one of the three.
"Nothing happens over night - and I started all of this a long time ago. Trial and error got me here haha it was just years of recording and writing, no special shortcuts. Ask any producer or artist who's popular now, they'll tell you the same thing. You have to hone in and perfect your skills!"
What do you want people to think when they hear the name "Dave Patten?"
"Music! I hope they smile because my music means something to them."
A couple questions about fellow Philly sensation, Meek Mill:
How did you two meet? Describe your relationship in one word.
"I met Meek on set of a music video shoot. I have a film production company (South9 Entertainment) and we do a lot of music video work. I started shooting Meek's videosand we developed a good relationship. He really liked my music, so we started working on tracks together.
Music-Business."
Do you plan on getting on any more tracks with him any time soon?
"We have 3 or 4 unreleased right now, working on getting the music videos shot for them before we release them."
Being young and having so much talent, what do you plan to do with the rest of your career? How do you envision your future in the music industry?
"The most important part is to always give it your best regardless of the situation and enjoy the ride. I don't plan to stop climbing. I can promise you that haha but it's more about the journey than it is the destination. My career has barely begun!!"
That was the last question. I want to thank you for taking the time to do the interview. Do you have any last thoughts or comments?
"Definitely check out my latest album "Exposure" you can download it free from http://davepatten.com , follow me on twitter @dave_patten, facebook http://www.facebook.com/DavePattenFB and check out a few of my music videos! We just broke 6 million views last week.

Chris Brown and Rihanna Follow Each Other

... Who cares!? Why am I reading so much about Chris Brown and Rihanna following one another on Twitter? Here's what's happening. Apparently, Rihanna chose to follow Chris Brown on Twitter the other day, and he followed her back. Now, everyone is acting like the world is ending. People stalking following Rihanna chose to tweet her right away and ask her about her choice to follow Chris. She promptly responded by saying, "It's f***ing Twitter, not the altar! calm down.". Agreed. It's 2011, why are people still talking about the incident between these two. If they're over it, everyone else should be as well. That's not it though. Sources are stating that Chris Brown and Rihanna have been Direct Messaging on Twitter. First, how would you even know that? Second, so what! I'm so tired of hearing about these two in regards to the assault incident. Buy their music, be a fan, and let them settle their own issues!

Fright Night Trailer!

It's finally here! Check out the official trailer for the upcoming film Fright Night. I am so excited to see this movie. I know that it's a remake and most remakes are usually terrible but this one actually looks good. The first one is such a timeless classic that there is going to be so much criticism on this film when it comes out but I really hope that it does well. The cast looks great and the trailer makes me even more excited for the film!

American Idol Top 3

Okay. I know I said I wouldn't talk about American Idol on Jay Swag once Pia Toscano was unfairly eliminated, but this is just too big not to discuss with you guys! What do you think about this years top 3? Personally, I cannot believe that Scotty McCreery is in the final 3. I think out of all the contestants he has been one of my least favorites. I understand that he has a great tone for country music, but where is the range? You can't rely solely on your tone. For example, if he makes it into the top 2, how is he going to be able to sing the winners song? Most of the time the song written is a very big and powerful one. Scott simply doesn't have the vocal ability to do any big song justice. Next, we have Haley Reinhart, who probably has the best melodic sensibility of the three. She also has a great and unique tone but, unlike Scotty, she has the range to back it up. Her performances of "House of the Rising Sun," and "I Who Have Nothing" were two of the best performances in the whole competition. Now, with that all being said, I do not think that she will win the competition either. I think Lauren Alaina is going to win it all. She's the sweet teenager that America loves, with a powerful and pure voice. Also, she would do excellent singing a big powerhouse song for the finale. She's just the thing that most of America would like to so see win. Which ever way it goes is fine with me, as long as Scotty is not the winner. What are your thoughts?

Justin Bieber Responds to Marg Helgenberger

It was only a matter of time before Justin Bieber got himself into a celebrity feud...unfortunately it's not a very interesting one. Instead of getting into a feud with someone in his age range, Bieber has decided to fight back with 54-year-old actress Marg Helgenberger. The two first met when Justin was recording his episode of CSI. In a recent interview with a French radio station, Helgenberger stated: "I shouldn't be saying this but he was kind of a brat. He was very nice to me but he locked one of the producers in a closet and he put his fist through a cake that was on the cast's table." Of course Justin Bieber ignores all of the other negative comments he receives, but he decided to respond to Marg Helgenberger...really? He took to twitter and said, "It's kinda lame when someone you met briefly and never worked with comments on you. I will continue to wish them luck and be kind." No one needs your luck Justin! Leave 54-year-old women alone. Also, here's a little bit of advice. If you're going to address your "haters" try to use a more intelligent vocabulary. "Lame" doesn't exactly help your case of trying to sound mature.

Rihanna just released the video to her new hit single "California King Bed and I love it. The song was such a good song and the video is just as amazing. Rihanna looks stunning! Paula and Simon Reunite

It's official! Paula Abdul will reunite with Simon Cowell on the U.S. version of the X-Factor. Abdul joins Cowell, Cheryl Cole, and Antonio L.A. Reid, as a judge for the show. Both Simon and Paula expressed their excitement to work with each other again. Simon stated: "This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can't believe I am saying this - I have missed her a lot and I am thrilled she's on the show.". Paula is also excited to be a part of the show, and joked around by saying "...I am delighted and grateful to be sitting next to Simon again...but you might want to check back with me in a week or two.". Could the chemistry that created American Idol, now destroy it once the X-Factor launches as its competition? Now that Simon and Paula are back together would you rather watch the X-Factor, or American Idol?

X-Factor Hosts Confirmed

With all the talk about who the judges are going to be of the U.S. version of X-Factor no one was really asking questions about the hosts. Well, we now know who the two hosts will be. First off, we have Nicole Scherzinger, formerly of the Pussycat Dolls. Her co-host will be British emcee Steve Jones, who is known for hosting the UK's T4 Music. Whenever you have more than one host, it is important that the two feed off of each others energy. Hopefully Scherzinger and Jones will have some sort of chemistry to keep the viewers entertained!

Beyonce and Jay-Z Booed at Met Gala

Beyonce and Jay-Z were just two of the stars in attendance at the annual Met Gala in New York City last night, however the power couple was not greeted with as much as hospitality as the other guests. Beyonce showed up wearing an extremely tight dress by Emilio Pucci. The dress was so tight that she could not even walk up the stairs without aid from Jay-Z and their crew. I guess Beyonce wanted to get the walk over with as fast as possible, and so she and her husband only posed for a few pictures. The photographers complained that not everyone had a chance to get a good picture and so the crowd began booing the couple! She, however, continued on walking without letting the booing phase her. Is it too much to ask for an invitation to the Met Gala next year?
