Happy New Year: 2010 Reflection

Well, I'm sitting here watching the hours go by and awaiting for the New Year to arrive. There are literally only a few hours left in 2010 and I've been thinking about how great of a year it was. I reached under my bed and I found a journal that I was using for a school project, two years ago. As I flipped through the pages I realized that I continued writing in it all the way up until December 31st, 2009. The last entry was titled. "2010 Goals." Following the title was a list of feats that I wished to achieve throughout 2010. Some of them included, conduct at least five more interviews, cover at least one more event, and reach over 10 thousand page views in a single month. As I read these goals I couldn't help but smile and realize that I achieved all of them. Not only did I conduct five interviews, but I shattered that goal and conducted 22. As far as events go I covered three more, not just one. Lastly, I wanted so badly to receive 10 thousand page views in one month, but back then, it seemed impossible. I can proudly say that over the past 30 days www.jayswag.com has received 110k page views. Before 2010, if someone told me that www.jayswag.com would receive even 20k page views I would laugh and say "Oh that's impossible," but this year has taught me that hard work and dedication really can pay off. I want to thank everyone that I've interviewed and worked with over the past year. Lastly, I want to thank all of you, the readers, for really making Jay Swag Entertainment News more than what I imagined. I can do all the interviews in the world, but without all the emails, tweets, and comments, I would have no drive to continue. So thank you for making 2010 the greatest year of my life. I wish all of you a blessed and happy New Year. May 2011 bring you all great joy and help you follow all of you dreams. Remember, no matter how old you are, you can always turn your dream into a reality.

Official Monster Video

The official video for Kanye West's Monster leaked today and all I can say is WOW! The video is insane. It features flesh eaters, decapitated women, and a whole slew of disturbing images, but honestly, overall, the video is genius! Kanye West is definitely an artist and no one will ever know what goes on in that mind of his. There are tons of rumors floating around stating that the video is an illuminati attempt at corrupting the minds of its viewers, but I think that people just need to take it for what it is; a great video to go along with a great song. What I think is even more shocking and an even bigger issue is how in the world did this video get leaked? Kanye is very careful with his material and for someone to leak it is not good at all, for them.

Chris Brown VS Raz B

This isn't good. Chris Brown and former B2K member, Raz B, have been going at it through Twitter for a few hours now! It all started when Raz B tweeted this: "Im just sittin here thinking how can n**gas like @ebenet & @chrisbrown disrespect women as intelligent as @HalleBerry11 and @Rihanna."...Really? That was completely uncalled for. Of course Chris Brown is going to defend himself, honestly, doesn't he have the right to do so? Unfortunately, the way that Chris does this is not appropriate. He responds with slew of racial and gay slurs. Not cool. Chris Brown then defends himself saying "I'm not homophobic! He's just disrespectful!!!!". I've been watching the argument go back and forth for a few hours and all I can conclude is this; Raz B is at fault for even tweeting something like that in the first place. If you're looking for another 10 minutes of fame, why don't you go to the studio and give us some new music, not try to start a fight with Chris Brown just for the publicity. Lastly, don't bring Rihanna into this anymore. She's moved on and is working so hard on her career. There's really no reason to go back to this dark chapter in her life. Oh how the wonderful world of Twitter can cause so much drama!

Tyler Perry's Pressing Charges

A week ago, a few teenagers decided to have some fun (or so they thought) and break into Tyler Perry's Georgia home. While they were three intruders, only one was caught. 18-year-old Chloe Ware was caught, but she has yet to identify who the other two were. Unfortunately for her, Tyler Perry has decided to press charges on counts of prowling and criminal trespassing. Hopefully Chloe will learn her lesson and stay away from illegal activities...especially when they involve multi-millionaire celebrities.

Lady Gaga Is A Fame Monster

Lady Gaga definitely is a Fame Monster. Her album entitled Lady Gaga The Fame Monster has been declared the top selling album for the year 2010. With over 5.8 million copies sold since its release in November of 2009, no other album has been able to top it this year. Congratulations to Lady Gaga. I'm sure she'll be seeing much more success in 2011.

Rihanna and Matt Kemp No More

Rihanna and boyfriend Matt Kemp are calling it quits. After rumors were flying for the past few days that the two had split up, it is now confirmed that they decided to go their separate ways. Sources close to Rihanna are stating that the relationship was never as serious as it looked and it was always just about fun for the two of them. Well, if things were no longer fun I guess it's better that they move on. Hopefully things ended on a good note.

R.I.P. Teena Marie

It saddens me to announce that R&B songstress Teena Marie, also known as Lady Tee, has passed away today (Sunday, December 26 2010). Teena Marie was the protogee of late funk legend Rick James. According to sources, Marie suffered a seizure last month, but had been home during the time of her death. She was found by her daughter, who contacted Marie's manager, who then broke the news to everyone. Marie is identified as one of the few successful white R&B singers and will always be remembered for her soulful vocals. She was 54 years old. R.I.P. Teena Marie. You will be missed.

Merry Christmas !

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone has a great and safe holiday season. There won't be any celebrity interviews or media coverage for today because really, everyone should be spending time with their family. So go enjoy the day! I hope everyone got exactly what they wanted this year. Either way, just be grateful for everything you have and especially for your family. That's all. Again, Merry Christmas to all of you!

Mariah Carey - O Holy Night

Christmas is coming up and I love listening to Christmas music and spending time with my family on the holidays. One of my favorite artists to listen to during the Christmas season is Mariah Carey. I love all her renditions of Christmas classics, but we all know that lately she hasn't been performing to her normal standard. Well, above is a live performance of O Holy Night, performed just last week! I was blown away by her vocals in the video. For everyone saying that she is lip syncing, I just ask that you pay closer to attention to the performance. You can definitely hear her voice crack at times which is proof that this is in fact Mariah performing live. Think about it; She's had a few months to rest her voice and this is the product of that resting period. I love it! I hope everyone has a safe and merry Christmas!

Jake Gyllenhaal & Taylor Swift

Recently, Taylor Swift began dating actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Apparently Jake knows how to treat Taylor. According to sources his most recent gifts to her were a $10,000 rare Fender Gretch guitar, along with 21 pounds of the best Kona coffee available. On top of this he chose to make her a birthday card, rather than buying one from a store. Now, while all of this sounds great, these gifts were just the small gifts. He purchased Taylor Swift a 30 carat colorless diamond bracelet (set in white gold) valued at $100,000. Wow! I wonder what he'll be getting her as a Christmas gift? Anyway, I think the two make a great couple and I hope everything continues to work out between them.

Jersey Shore Season 3

Check out the official preview of the third season of the Jersey Shore. The hit reality series decided to film the third season back in Seaside Heights NJ. Now, I'm not a huge fan of the series any more but I must say recording a show titled Jersey Shore at the Jersey Shore was a genius idea! I wonder who thought of doing that... I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt that the second season just wasn't as interesting as the first. Hopefully this season will be a little bit better. They were recording for this season when Karelie and I were at the shore in the summer so it'll be interesting to see what the turn out is. Anyway, enjoy the preview above and let me know what your thoughts are on Jersey Shore.

Bieber's Going Country?

Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber is trying something new. Justin Bieber will be teaming up with Rascal Flatts to record a country duet that will be released in 2011. The duo was actually an idea that came from Justin Bieber. When the lead singer of Rascal Flatts, Gary LeVox was asked about the duet, he said; "Justin asked us to do a duet with him on his next record,he went on to say,"It's actually a really good song! What do you think about Justin and Rascal Flatts working together? I think it could work out pretty well. I guess we'll just have to wait and see for ourselves when the song is released in 2011.

Diddy's Flaming Model Is Just Fine

On Tuesday, comedian Kevin Hart was helping Diddy promote his new album Last Train to Paris, when the unthinkable happened! One of the models' hair was ignited and caught on fire. She immediately dunked her head back into the tub to put the fire out. All of this action went down live on the popular video streaming site, Ustream. When Diddy was asked about the incident and the models well being he stated; "I wanna say that she was a great sport about it, nobody got hurt...and she got back in the tub! It's the safest place, if you think about it....Good point. Now, since we know that the model was not injured, watch the video above and have a good laugh!

Usher...The New King?

Well, apparently Usher believes that he will be the one to succeed the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. In a recent interview he when on record saying; ;You know, we lost Michael Jackson. A lot of pressure is on me and I don't mind taking it. I wanted to make sure that you get that type of experience that leaves you saying, 'OMG.' The impression that I would like to leave is that this guy is really stepping it up to a level where people can hopefully compare me to people like Michael Jackson. I basically tear myself apart emotionally, energetically, connecting with you and making sure that you enjoy this moment." Now, Usher is definitely, a good singer, a great dancer, and an all in all very talented performer, but I don't see him anywhere near the likes of Michael Jackson. What do you think about Usher's statement in which he asks to be compared to the King of Pop?

3 Number One Singles for Katy Perry

Three must be her lucky number! First there was California Girls, then there was Teenage Dream, and now there's Fireworks. What do all of these have in common? First, all three of these songs come from Katy Perry's album Teenage Dream and all of these songs have hit number one on Billboard's Hot 100. Katy Perry is the first female artist to achieve this accomplishment in the past 11 years! On top of all of this, she is also nominated for four Grammy awards. Congratulations to her and all of her success!

Miley Cyrus Bong Video

About two days ago a video surfaced on TMZ that featured Miley Cyrus smoking a bong on her 18th birthday. At first rumors were flying that Miley was smoking weed, but that is not true. The smoke that filled the bong was actually salvia, which is an herb that can cause hallucinations. Basically, it gives the user an intense high that only lasts about 15 minutes. Now, possession of salvia is legal in the state of California, and that is where the event took place...so did Miley do anything illegal? No. However, Miley...you are 18 years old, you're a teen icon, and millions of girls across the world look up to you, learn to have some control over your actions and think about what you do before you do them. Secondly, if you are going to do something stupid, because what you did was completely stupid, make sure you can trust everyone who is with you, because apparently one of your friends felt like turning in that video was more important than covering up for you. Sorry for the rant everyone I just think its important for people in the public eye, especially teenagers, to always be aware of their actions and not do irresponsible things. That's all!

Forever the Sickest Kids Interview

Hey everyone! Check out my exclusive interview with Marc Stewart from Forever The Sickest Kids!

1. Hey! First off can you please introduce yourselves and tell us a
little bit about your selves?

"This is Marc Stewart and I play lead guitar in Forever the Sickest Kids"

2. How did you guys come together to make a band and when did you
realize you had something that would work?

"Well, this is kind of a spider-wed story of how we came together....
Me and Kyle are step brothers, Kyle and Jonathan went to high school
together, Kent and I also went to high school together and Caleb and
Austin grew up together. Me, Kyle, Jonathan and Kent were in a band
before this as well as Caleb and Austin together. So after our bands
fading out we just kind of joined forces and wrote our first full band
song, Hey Brittany"

3. When did you realize you wanted to dedicate your life to performing
and making music?

"I think it had always been on all of ours minds as we were growing up.
Its a dream a lot of people have, we were just able to pursue it."

4. What makes you guys stand out from other bands that are in the same category?
"We try to keep a positive outlook on stage and be there for the fans,
because they are always there for us."

5. What's the craziest/funniest fan experience you've had?
"Man, everyday something new happens, our fans are so amazing and would
do anything for us. The other day in Michigan there was a group of 3
girls that camped out in a tent and sleeping bags outside of the
club..... it was their first snow days and there was about 2-3 inches
of snow on the ground and it was FREEZING outside. mad props to them."

6. What's an interesting fact about you guys that many people may not know?
"Me and Kyle are step brothers, and the first time I met Austin was
basically the first day of practice."

7. Are you guys currently working on any projects besides your next
studio album?

"We are finished recording the new full-length album and all so stoked
on it so we are putting all our energy and efforts into the promotion
and release of that album!"

8. What can we expect from the next album?
"Its gonna be the best material you have heard from us. We are all
extremely proud of it and cant wait to get it out to the fans. It
will be a full length album and be available in march. So keep
checking back to our websites to find the latest info about it!"

9. Which tour has been your favorite to perform in, and why?
"The Christmas Pageant tour we are on now with Family Force 5,
Secondhand Serenade and Shorelines End has been amazing so far.
Extremely fun bands and just an all around good vibe around the
holidays."

10. That was the last question. I want to thank you guys for taking
the time to do the interview. What's the best way for the fans to keep
in touch with you guys, and do you have any last thoughts or comments?

"thank you to all of our fans for your support we wouldnt be here
without you!!! join us on twitter.com/officialftsk!"

Keep a Child Alive

I'm sure that you all know about the Keep a Child Alive foundation and the Digital Death campaign that they launched. Unfortunately, the campaign is not going as smoothly as they had planned. Celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Alicia Keys, Usher, and even the queen of Twitter, Lady Gaga, have all chosen to sacrifice their "digital lives" in order to raise money for the Keep a Child Alive foundation. Now, with all this star power, and all of their followers (Lady Gaga alone has over 7 million), you would think that raising $1,000,000 would not be all that difficult, however they have only been able to raise, collectively, a little over $200,000. Why is that? So far all the celebrities have kept their word and have stayed away from Twitter and Facebook until the one million dollars has been raised, but that seems like it may take a long time. All I ask is that if you are able to donate any more, go to www.buylife.org and donate just one dollar to which ever celebrity you choose. If everyone can donate one dollar then we can make a difference, and before you ask, the answer is "yes" I will be donating too. Lets do it!

You Tube Artist of the Month

This month's You Tube Artist of the Month is an extremely talented rapper who goes by the name of Tory Lanez. Honestly, he has one of the best flows and he is a great lyricist as well. Susan Boyle's Got a Frog in Her Throat

What happened!? Susan Boyle was performing O Holy Night on The View when her voice cracked during the performance. I'm not a singer so I don't know how the performances go, and so on, but aren't professional singers trained how to avoid things like this during a live performance? Don't get me wrong, Susan does have a very nice voice, but it just seems to me that since her debut on Britain's Got Talent there have been so many mishaps with her. Maybe the attention is just too much for her to handle.

Lil Kim - Black Friday

Like I said...things are bound to get messy. Check out Lil Kim's diss for Nicki Minaj, titled Black Friday. I listened to the song and some of the lyrics really have to get Nicki mad. For example,
"See the fact is... what you doin', I did it.
You lames tryna clone my style and run with it.
That's cool, I was the first one with it
You's a Lil' Kim wannabe, you just hate to admit it.
I'm the blue print; you ain't nothin' brand new,
Check your posters and videos,
You'll always be number two."
Now, we all know I am a huge Nicki Minaj fan and I love her beyond belief, but I have to give Lil Kim props on those last lines! As much as I hate to see two amazing rappers go at it, I guess it will lead to some pretty good raps coming from both sides. I can't wait to see Nicki's response.

Nicki Minaj - My Time Now

I am so excited to watch MTV's exclusive documentary on Nicki Minaj tonight! Above is a little sneak peak of My Time Now, which will air tonight, Sunday, November 28th at 10pm est time. We all know that I have an unhealthy obsession with Nicki Minaj and that I am completely in love with her...even though she never answers my marriage proposal on twitter! All jokes aside though, the documentary is going to give all of her fans a look into her life, and as you see in the video above, she is completely honest and speaks out about what she believes in. I definitely recommend tuning in to MTV tonight!

Chilling Details Regarding Michael Brea

I'm not sure if you heard about this story or not, but actor Michael Brea, as seen on Ugly Betty murdered his mother a few days ago. Recently, shocking and disturbing details have been revealed concerning this case. The following information is very eerie and shows how deranged Michael Brea was at the time of this murder. He states:" I didn't kill her. I killed the demon inside her." He claims that all he did was in the name of God. He goes on to say, "She had the voice of the demon. I asked 'Do you believe in God?' She said, "No Michael' and began screaming. I began slashing her like this." At this point he began to wave his right hand in a hacking motion. According to a close friend of Brea, he was going through financial hardships, and they believe the stress of his economic trouble led him to insanity. Whatever it may be, this story continues to become more eerie everyday. I'll keep you guys updated if any new information is released.

Check It Out!

I was recently interviewed by Korinna Williams, of korinnawilliams123.blogspot.com . Make sure you go check out the interview by clicking here. Nicki Minaj / Lil Kim Rivalry

Oh lord. If you're the type of person that loves Nicki Minaj than you already know her and Lil Kim have a little rivalry going on for a decent amount of time now. Recently, Nicki Minaj stated that Lil Kim is going to go down in history as a sore loser. This led Lil Kim to release the following statement. "That was cute for her. Bitches like her do shit like that. Talk on ho, it's easy to talk when the album sales ain't back yet. Since you talkin' about the history books lets talk about the f****** history books damn it. Bitch, I got a grammy, bitch. I got number ones sweety. 'Source' gave my last album 5 motherf****** mics ho. What the f*** do you have?" Lil Kim goes on to say, "You got a lot to learn mama. Respect the queen, stay in the princess section. Stay in your lane mama."...Wow! Things are going to get dirty soon! As much as I love Nicki, Lil Kim does have a point. In all industries there is just a certain amount of respect that you need to have for people and honestly, Lil Kim is one of those people that deserves respect. Let's see what happens next!

Dinner with the Bilyks

Hey everyone! It's time for "Part 2" of my Canada trip. The day after Luke's birthday party, I went to his house for dinner. First, I want to say that the entire family is so nice! The spaghetti and meatballs were delicious and their overall hospitality was amazing. While at the Bilyk's beautiful home I met Luke, his grandparents, his mom, his dad, his sister, and two of his friends. Everyone was so nice and we all had a great time. I even got to play the piano for them (hopefully I wasn't too bad! haha). Having dinner with Luke confirmed what the cast had already said. He is nice, funny and definitely honest. It was a great way to end my mini vacation in Canada. I'll be back soon! Again, I want to thank the Bilyk family for being so generous! Make sure you all are following Luke on his official twitter, @lukebilyk1. His official website is www.lukebilyk.ca and his official facebook fan page is www.facebook.com/lukebilyk94 .

Luke Bilyk's 16th Birthday Bash

(Luke and myself meeting for the first time)

Amazing, party of the year, greatest night of my life; these are all the thoughts that come to mind when I think of Luke Bilyk’s Sixteenth Birthday Bash at the Guvernment Entertainment Complex in Canada. I was able to attend this amazing event, thanks to the Bilyk family. While I was there to enjoy the party, I was also there to provide all my readers with exclusive coverage.
--
The party began with a Meet & Greet with Luke between 6pm-8pm followed by the Birthday Bash at 8pm. One on one photos were taken with fans and a personal signed photo was also given, as well as enjoying a slide show of Luke's childhood memories filled with his early years of modeling clips and growing up years.
(two fans tell me how excited they were to meet Luke)

It was after talking with Luke and Momma Bilyk through email and twitter for so long, that I was finally able to meet them both in person, I also met Luke’s father Barry. After I met them I came to the conclusion that I had just met the nicest people in the world. The line of fans continued to grow and I was able to stand by and interview a few Fans. Unfortunately, the audio on my files did not come out clear, but I’m always prepared! I wrote everything down on my blackberry. These two girls (pictured above) informed that they were “soooo excited” for the party, and when I asked them how early they purchased their tickets, they said “Oh..we bought our tickets within a few hours of it being announced!” At 8pm, general admission began and in came a massive amount of fans, family and friends. The DJ RoyalP was great, also in attendance was a Special guest appearance by Rap Artist Blake Carrington who rocked the house with Luke on stage. Everyone enjoyed food, beverage and lots of giveaways from the stage. One of the lucky fans Maryanna Barron won a skateboard with Luke's face airbrushed on it by Airbrush 4u and personally signed by Luke to the winner.
(Above is guest performer, Blake Carrington, performing on stage with Luke Bilyk)

Everyone watched while Luke blew out the16 Birthday candles on his very BIG 4 layer long cake, they All enjoyed a piece of the Birthday cake which had a photo of Luke in the centre.
(Luke is surrounded by tons of fans as he blows out his candles)

Everything went very smooth, I think what made the party so great, was the energy. Luke, friends and those in attendance of the Degrassi cast and Winging It, put out a great amount of energy, the excitement was mounted and the crowd received the energy and fed off of it. It was this powerful combination that made the vibe in the room go from just your “regular” party to something much more memorable.

(The cast of Degrassi was kind enough to sit down and talk with me about Luke)

(Degrassi cast members would dance with the fans and take pictures with them throughout the night)

I was given a great opportunity, thanks to Mr. Bilyk, which allowed me to interview the cast about Luke. I really wanted to get some embarrassing stories but Luke got lucky and the cast told me that they had nothing embarrassing to say about him. The cast did tell me that Luke loves to play jokes on everyone. Jordan Todosey recalled when Luke prank called her once. Another thing I noticed was the closeness of the Cast. Since they were more like a family I asked them how close they all were with Luke, and Samantha Munro stated that they hang out as much as they can and that everyone is really close with one another. Lastly, I asked them to describe Luke in three words. They all agreed on funny, nice, and an emphasis on honest. After meeting the whole cast I have nothing but great things to say about them. Sometimes we forget that they are more than just great actors and actresses, but it’s important to realize that they are all great people too! Throughout the night the cast would come and dance with the fans, and allow everyone to take pictures with them, which made everything much more personable. All in all the party was a huge success and I want to wish Luke (for like the third time) a Happy 16th birthday! Enjoy some of the pictures from the party and get ready for part two of my Canada trip: Dinner with the Bilyks!

(It's safe to say that Melinda Shankar made my life haha!)

Pink Confirms She's Pregnant

While rumors have been flying that Pink was pregnant, nothing was confirmed until recently. On an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres show, that will air today, Pink said that she's "..eating for two" and that "it was not an Oops!" Pink - Whataya Want From Me

International star Pink has decided to record Adam Lamberts "Whataya Want From Me," which she co-wrote. Originally, Pink was supposed to keep the song and put it on the Funhouse, but she chose to give it to Lambert. After listening to them both, I still think that Adam sings the song better, but Pink definitely sounds great too! Let me know what you think guys.

Black Girls Rock 2010

Last night BET held the award show Black Girls Rock! I figured I would tune in to check out some of the performances and see who they commemorated. When I put it on, I assumed the show would be good, but I had no idea that some of the performances would be on the level that they were. For example, check out the above performance of Four Women, performed by Kelly Price, Marsha Ambrosius, Jill Scott, and Ledesi. It's simply amazing! There is so much power in all of their voices and they sing their parts so well. That was definitely my favorite performance of the night. Another big moment that I really enjoyed, was when they honored Ruby Dee and deemed her a living legend. After hearing her speak, and listening to all the good they had to say about her, I realized she definitely deserved the title, but she was so humble about it. Overall, great show BET!

R.I.P. Shannon Tavarez

This story really saddens me. The 11-year-old Broadway star, Shannon Tavarez, lost her battle with leukemia on Monday, November 1st. The starlet caught the eye of thousands of people, including the likes of Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and 50 Cent. Tavarez played the young lion Nala in the Broadway production of The Lion King. I've seen videos of her singing before and she truly was a gift. Her voice was so pure and innocent. It's a shame to see someone so young, have to leave the earth, but they do say that only the good die young. Rest in peace, you will be missed.

YouTube Artist of The Month

This month's YouTube Artist of the Month is one of my favorites ever! He goes by the name DeLaZoo and he is probably one of the most talented internet rappers at the moment. Someone really needs to sign him! I did a short Q&A with him, to give you all some more information. Check it out below!

1: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My real name is Devin. I was born in Somerville, New Jersey but been living in Kalamazoo, Michigan most of my life. Started rapping and producing back in my freshman year of high school and kinda kept it since then.
2: What made you interested in rapping, and to make a YouTube account?
My interest in rapping pretty much came from growing up listening to rap. I grew up in the 90s when Dr. Dre, Nas, Jay-Z and all them were popular so I had a lot of exposure to hip-hop and ended up really liking it. I started off writing a couple raps here and there but nothing too serious until I started with YouTube. I would always watch kids like Dyme-a-Duzin, Traphik, and Wax online and saw the huge fanbase they had for unsigned artists, and I liked how tangible YouTube made it to be somewhat famous. Long story short I started uploading rapping/beatmaking videos in December '09 and I guess they just took off from there.
3: Where do you see yourself in in the next five years?
Definitely doing something with music. Of course being a hella successful signed artist would be ideal..but I'd be happy if I were able to make a decent living off of producing/studio engineering.
4: Who are your biggest influences?
Wayyyy to many to list. I particularly admire dudes who both produce and rap such as Dr. Dre, J. Cole, Charles Hamilton, RZA, Eminem, Kanye, Blackmilk, etc., but there's so many other artists I listen to that've helped me develop a style.
5: What advice would you give to people trying to make a name for themselves?
Just do you. It's easy to upload a remix of a Justin Bieber song and get 1,000's of views, but in the end what separates good from great is originality. If you want your career to be more than a mass YouTube following, perfect a style of music that only you can do.

Demi Lovato's Rehab Story

I'm sure by now, you all heard the news that Demi Lovato is in Rehab, after getting into a short physical altercation with one of her back-up dancers. I wanted to wait a little before I posted on the issue, to see what other information I could gather. From what I found, Demi Lovato was out partying the night of a concert, and was then approached by her manager, who asked questions about the previous night. Demi, on the same day, then went to one of her back up dancers and questioned her, to find out if she was the one who told management. It was then that a one sided, physical altercation broke out. After this, sources are saying that Demi and her family both felt that due to the battles she has fought throughout her life, she should seek help. This is how Demi Lovato ended up in rehab. Please note this is not a drug rehab! I think it's great to see a celebrity take responsibility for their actions!

Junior Ring Dance

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've done a personal post and talked about my life so I figured that I would write one today. Last night was my Junior Ring dance and I had so much fun. Above is a picture from the dance. I'm on the far left with my date Teddi-Ann, next to us, in the middle is our friend Sean, who is followed by Dan and his date Olivia. Overall it was a great night, starting with pictures at Olivia's house, then the car ride there, and finally the dance itself. I spent most of the time hanging out with my best friends. This year, I've decided to enjoy school as much as I can. This is my junior year, which means I only have senior year left and after that, all of my friends and myself will be going our separate ways. Here's some advice. Maybe you don't like the work, or maybe your teachers get on your nerves, but make sure you enjoy school as much as you can because you never know what's going to happen when it's all over.

Mariah and Nick Are Expecting!

About a week ago Mariah confirmed that her and husband Nick Cannon are expecting their first child together! In a recent interview she spoke about using acupuncture as a method to conceive a child. She stated that after hearing Celine Dion say that she used acupuncture, Mariah too decided to receive the treatment once a day, which helped her relieve stress from her life, ultimately allowing her to get pregnant. Both Mariah and Nick have stated that they believe the other will make a great parent. I wonder if they are giving birth to one of the greatest vocalists of the future generation?

Nicki Minaj - Check It Out

Check it out!The highly anticipated music video for Nicki Minaj's single Check It Out is here! We all know that I'm Nicki Minaj's biggest stalker fan, but in all seriousness I love the video. Nicki Minaj looks amazing in all her outfits too! Only she can pull off the crazy things she wears. Honetly, at first I wasn't a huge fan of the song but it grew on me and the video is just as good in my opinion. Let me know what you think! Dear Nicki, I need to interview you!

Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 Track List

The Beastie Boys 8th studio album, which was originally slated for release in 2009, will now be released in Spring 2011 as Hot Sauce Committee Part 2. The original 16 tracks that were recorded for Part 1, have been pushed to Part 2 and the tracks for the original Part 2 will be saved for a later release. "I know it's weird and confusing ...but at least we can say unequivocally that Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 is coming out on time, which is more than I can say about Part 1, and really is all that matters in the end," says Adam "MCA" Yauch. The Beastie Boys are the longest lived hip-hop act to continue with commercial success. They have also been nominated for introduction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2011. Congratulations and good luck to them!

Share a Name with a Celebrity?

If you do share a name with a celebrity than this is the show for you! It's been a while since I've heard about an interesting reality show idea, but today I finally got word of something that seems kinda of interesting! Apparently, there is a reality show in the works, that will take the lives of regular people, who share names with a celebrity, and let them swap lives with the celebrity for a day. The show is titled The Same Name. Right now I don't have a list of the celebrities that will be on the show, but apparently Justin Bieber will be involved. According to sources, there is a 35-year-old man named Justin Bieber who will swap lives with the teen singing sensation. In all honesty this is a pretty interesting concept and I'll definitely have to check it out when it airs!

Kanye West - Runaway

Kanye West recently released his Music Video/Short Film for Runaway The video is about 35min long but it's actually a pretty cool idea. I definitely recommend sitting down and watching it when you have time. Kanye may have had a lot of ups and downs in the past years but overall he is definitely one of my favorite artist and his ideas are so creative. He will definitely be remembered as one of the greatest artists of our time!

Power couple Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz are now the proud parents of a baby boy! The two announced that they were expecting a child last May, and on Thursday the baby was born. While this is the first child for the two as a couple, Swizz Beatz has three other children. Justin Bieber - Speaking In Tongues

Alright...I must admit that Justin Bieber went in on this track! People can say whatever they want, but in all seriousness this is pretty good. You have to remember he's a 16-year-old pop singer who just wanted to show people that he wasn't a terrible rapper either, and in my opinion he did just that. He's definitely earning more of my respect every day.
-Jay P-
*Update* Information just came to me from one of my readers that Justin Bieber actually stole some of his lines from another rappers song! Apparently, Canadian rapper Tory Lanez posted a freestyle video up in March where he used the line "Put Lady GaGa on my telephone...". Tory Lanez said that he doesn't mind Bieber using his line though, so let's keep it friendly everyone! These comments are getting out of hand!

The Justin Bieber Book

Justin Bieber released his highly anticipated book (the title is just way to long so I refuse to type it) yesterday and chances are if your a Bieber fan you've already read it front to back. I, myself, didn't read the book, just because I've been so busy. I did, however, find out some interesting information from the book thanks to a few sources. In the book he states that his family and team are keeping him grounded and they won't let him "get away with crap." I think it's so important that you don't let fame and publicity get to your head so I'm glad to hear that. Have you read the book? Let me know what you think in the comments. I really would love to interview Justin Bieber and I'm going to keep working on making that happen!

KT Tunstall interview

Check out Jay Swag Entertainment News' most recent interview with the amazing KT Tunstall, done by intern Briana Bell. I want to thank Briana for working so hard and for bringing a new audience to Jay Swag. Also, a big thanks to KT and Sneak Attack Media! Enjoy the interview!

1. Before we start, could you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself?
"Hi there, my name's KT Tunstall, I'm a musician, shorter than you think, and a fan of bats, dogs, birds, good food, whisky, campfires, festivals, leather boots, and am currently listening to Kelis's new record."
2. Congratulations on your new record "Tiger Suit!" What makes this album different from your others?
"It's definitely more experimental than my previous records. I've brought electronica into the mix, and also freed up my vocal style in the studio. This record has a wilder streak and a more up-tempo feel."
3. I noticed a change in sound from your debut album "Eye to the Telescope" to your newest album "Tiger Suit." What inspired this shift?
"Well I moved towards a more band oriented sound on my second album, 'Drastic Fantastic', and my dance sensibilities were emerging at that time. I took a year out to write this album, and i dug deep to find out what was really turning me on creatively. I wanted to do something fresh and push myself creatively to make something that really excited me. Rhythm, wildness, atmosphere, an evocation of place, and great dance music all came out top."
4. What was going through your head the first time you heard your hit song "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" playing on the radio? How about when it was nominated for a Grammy?
"This sounds bloody great, and I feel ACE!!!' and also, 'I can't believe 2 of us recorded that in a day..." I was happiest that it sounded different from everything else on the radio. The Grammy nomination was a real surprise and made me feel very welcomed by America."
5. If you were not in the music industry, what would your dream job be?
"God, there's so many things I'd love to do! Be a jeweller, a chandelier-maker, a meerkat handler, a cartoonist, a voice-over artist, a vintage furniture re-vamper, a radio DJ..."
6. When you're not in the studio, what do you like to spend time doing?
"Touring!! Outside of music, I love friends, house parties, campfires, films, books, walking, and being lazy!'
7. Where are your favorite places to shop? Do you have a favorite article of clothing?
"SoHo and Brooklyn in New York are great. I love having time to wander into independent places and pick up something really unique. What Goes Around Comes Around and Bess in NYC are great, and back home in London, Liberty's department store is so beautiful it's almost like going to an art gallery as much as a shop. I couldn't manage without my Fiorentini + Baker leather biker boots - I've worn them almost every day for 7 years!"
8. What's an interesting fact about you that many people may not know?
"I'm a pretty good skier."
9. Who are some artists that you enjoy listening to? Is there one artist that you've been dying to collaborate with?
"LCD Soundsystem, Silver columns, The Black Keys, King Creosote, The xx, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beck, Gorillaz... I'd love to work with The Chemical Brothers.

10. I just wanted to give you a big thanks for taking the time to do our interview! Any comments or last thoughts you'd like to leave with us?

"Thanks for having me! Hope to see you up the front at a gig, and long live albums!!"
